Purpose Driven Tutoring is seeking dedicated instructional staff to support our 2027–2028 tutoring cohorts. These hourly, W-2 positions are based at school campuses and community partner locations throughout Solano County.

Senior Youth Tutor

Reports to: Program Lead · Hourly, W-2 · August 2027–May 2028
$30.00per hour, on-campus tutoring$20.00per hour, training (~19 hrs)

Senior Youth Tutors oversee implementation of the tutoring program and provide direct instructional support to students as needed. This role requires previous experience with the Tattum Reading curriculum working directly with students one-on-one, and the ability to teach that curriculum to others. Consistent adherence to the Tattum Reading instructional model, strong communication skills, and the ability to deliver clear, accurate phonics instruction are essential. All duties are performed on a school campus during designated program hours.

Essential Duties

  • Provide high-quality, individualized literacy instruction using Tattum Reading, including in a tutor's absence
  • Report to the assigned school site on time, Monday–Friday, 3:00–6:00 PM
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation of tutor attendance, student attendance, and student progress
  • Administer program assessments, including pre- and post-assessments
  • Serve as liaison between school staff and the Program Lead, with regular check-ins
  • Act as key point of contact for all tutors, ensuring the program is administered with fidelity
  • Mentor and support new tutors individually or in small groups, as assigned
  • Assist with room setup and end-of-day cleaning
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with school staff through effective communication and collaboration

Minimum Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge of early literacy instruction, including phonics and foundational reading skills
  • Previous tutoring experience using the Tattum curriculum
  • Ability to implement established curriculum and instructional practices with fidelity
  • Effective oral communication, including clear articulation and modeling of phonemic awareness
  • Demonstrated patience, reliability, punctuality, and consistent attendance
  • Prior experience working with youth in an educational or developmental setting
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Bilingual candidates strongly encouraged to apply

  • Completion of required program training
  • All sessions conducted in an open, observable, supervised area — never alone with a student in an isolated space
  • Employment is contingent upon meeting applicable California law, school district, and site-specific requirements for working with students
  • Ability to sit/stand/move around a room, lift instructional materials, and work on an active school campus or community site
  • Adherence to a site-specific program calendar provided upon assignment

Tutor

Reports to: Senior Youth Tutor / Program Lead · Hourly, W-2 · Cohort-based
$25.00per hour, on-campus or community site$18.00per hour, training (~18 hrs)

Tutors deliver direct, one-on-one instruction to assigned students using the Tattum Reading curriculum, under the guidance of the Senior Youth Tutor and Program Lead. This is the core instructional role in every cohort — the tutors students see every session.

Essential Duties

  • Deliver individualized literacy instruction to assigned students using the Tattum Reading curriculum
  • Report to the assigned school site on time, Monday–Friday during designated program hours
  • Rotate through structured 45-minute one-on-one sessions per shift
  • Maintain accurate, timely records of student attendance and progress
  • Administer program pre- and post-assessments, as assigned
  • Collaborate with the Senior Youth Tutor and fellow tutors to support program fidelity
  • Assist with daily room setup and end-of-day cleaning
  • Maintain a safe, orderly, and inclusive learning environment

Minimum Qualifications

  • Interest in or experience with early literacy instruction, including phonics and foundational reading
  • Effective oral communication skills, including clear articulation and modeling of phonemic awareness
  • Demonstrated patience, reliability, punctuality, and consistent attendance
  • Ability to work effectively with students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Bilingual candidates strongly encouraged to apply
